Bicyclist, 68, Killed In Park Ridge Crash
A 68-year-old bicyclist died after crashing at the bottom of a steep hill in Park Ridge, authorities said. The victim wasn't wearing a helmet as he headed down Spring Valley Road when he crashed near Doxey Drive shortly before 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Park Ridge Police Capt. Joseph Rampolla said. Sgt.. Michael Babcock and Officer Scott Malloy called for a medical chopper and provided medical assistance to the victim, who suffered severe head trauma, the captain said. School was back in session Thursday after an accidental activation of the lockdown system at Our Lady of Mercy Academy in Park Ridge brought a huge law enforcement response. A mechanic from Westwood had his hand crushed in a Thursday morning accident at a Park Ridge auto repair shop, authorities said. The 61-year-old employee was working on a vehicle Z Star Park Ridge Auto Repair at Kinderkamack Road and Park Avenue when his right hand was crushed between the motor and its mount shortly after 10:30 a.m., Police Capt. Allendale Man Seriously Injured In Fall From Ladder In Park Ridge
A man was airlifted to the hospital after falling from a ladder at a Park Ridge home over the weekend. The 35-year-old victim from Allendale was unconscious and bleeding from the head when police arrived at the West Park Avenue home off Pascack Road just after 2 p.m. Sunday, Capt. Joseph Rampolla said. A medevac was requested due to the nature of the injury, which occurred when the victim fell from a 6-foot A-frame ladder, the captain said. AirMed One landed at West Ridge Elementary School and took him to Hackensack University Medical Center, he said.
