Wires Left Draping Over Tractor Trailer, Cars In East Rutherford Crash
A tractor-trailer caused major damage and danger Monday morning, Nov. 4 in East Rutherford. According to the fire department, the vehicle struck a pole at Paterson Avenue and Herman Street around 11:50 a.m. "The impact caused significant damage, resulting in additional telephone poles being affected and damage to other vehicles," the department said. The borough police and fire departments responded, as did the county's HazMat team and PSE&G. The roadway will be closed until PSEG crews can safely complete repairs.

Three Dump Trucks Crash On Route 80, Firefighters Say
A crash involving three dump trucks shut a portion of Route 80 Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 2. Hackensack firefighters were called to the scene in the westbound lanes where they found the three trucks and one passenger vehicle near Exit 64 around 1:50 p.m., they said. There were no injuries reported, however, a large fluid spill from the dump trucks required a DOT truck to respond and apply sand to the leaking fluid. 2 Hospitalized By Explosion At Industrial Gas Supply Company In NJ Town
Two people were injured after an explosion at an industrial gas company in Branchburg on the early morning of Wednesday, June 5, authorities said. At 4:30 a.m., first responders arrived at 197 Meister Ave. and found smoke visible from the Air Liquide building, Branchburg police said in a release. Two people suffering from chemical burns were transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment, police said. Air Liquide is a French industrial gas supplier, its website says. Haledon police busted a 23-year-old resident who they said mixed toxic and potentially fatal chemicals to produce homemade Ecstasy in the center of town. Acting on a reliable tip, investigators led by Detective Jeffrey Welsh obtained a search warrant and -- assisted by their department's Special Services Bureau -- hit the clandestine Haledon Avenue lab on Saturday, Feb. 10, Deputy Police Chief George Guzman said. Chicken Waste Spill Causes HazMat Situation Along South Jersey Highway
A trailer hauling chicken waste products crashed, spilling its contents all over Route 55 and causing a HazMat situation in Gloucester County on Monday, Feb. 27. The northbound side of the roadway was closed in Deptford from mile marker 59.2 to the Route 42 interchange following the 9 a.m. crash. The roadway had reopened as of 1:45 p.m., but crews were still on scene for cleanup. HazMat crews, the New Jersey State Police, NJDOT, and multiple fire departments were on scene. Environmental services were notified and were monitoring the incident. No injuries were reported.

More than 100 gallons of cooking oil were spilled from a truck in a massive HazMat incident in Sussex County, authorities said. The Newton Fire Department responded to the spill alongside local police and the county HazMat team on Wednesday, June 22, the department said. Upon arrival, crews confirmed the leak and immediately worked to prevent the oil from spilling into a storm drain. Six students were hospitalized for respiratory distress after they were exposed to pepper spray at their Jersey City middle school Monday, a city spokeswoman said.
