End Of An Era: Manny's Preakness Diner Closing In Wayne After 40 Years
It's the end of an era in Wayne.
Manny's Preakness Diner, at 1220 Hamburg Turnpike in the Preakness Shopping Center, is closing on Sunday, Jan. 14, owner John Ligos announced on Facebook.
"Thanks to all the loyal customers, thank you for the support and love," Ligos said.
Ligos said his other restaurant, the Lenape Valley Dinner in Oakland, will remain open.

Trio Of $50K Powerball Tickets Sold In NJ
Three Powerball tickets each good for $50,000 were sold in New Jersey.
The tickets matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball drawn for the Wednesday, Dec. 22, drawing.
Those tickets were sold at the following locations:
Bergen County: Quick Chek #101, 40 Route 17 North, Ramsey;
Camden County: B-Corner Food Mart, 118 Clements Bridge Road, Barrington; and
Passaic County: Quick Chek #110, 2333 Hamburg Turnpike, Wayne.

Knife-Wielding Ex-Con Caught After Threatening Pizza Makers, Wayne PD Says
Wayne police captured an ex-con who they said threatened some local pizzeria employees with a knife.
Khalil Bakho, 56, had stood in the doorway of Brother Bruno’s Pizza, Deli and Bagels on Hamburg Turnpike, pointed at the workers and made a slicing motion across his throat with the knife, Detective Capt. Dan Daly said.
A responding officer searching the area moments later spotted Bakho, of Wayne, slouching in the driver’s seat of a parked vehicle, Daly said.
Bakho was arrested after the officer found the knife under his seat, he said.

The ticket from Wednesday night’s drawing was sold at Quick Check on Hamburg Turnpike, in Wayne.

A new senior living facility is under construction in Wayne.
The Bristal Assisted Living, the region’s leader in senior care communities, is located at 1440 Hamburg Turnpike. The four-story, 134,000-square-foot building features 101 assisted living units and 52 memory care apartments.
The $50 million development is expected to be completed June 2019.
