UPDATE: A 19-year-old college student from Garfield was killed and his girlfriend seriously injured when his Mustang slammed into the front of a new restaurant in Ridgefield early Saturday. The two were headed north on Broad Avenue when Yusuf Bakmaz missed the split to Grand Avenue on the left around midnight June 24, Ridgefield Police Chief TJ Gallagher said. Driver Pulled From Crashed, Burning Car Off Route 46 Dies
A driver was pronounced dead at a local hospital after police pulled him from his crashed, burning car on an industrial road off Route 46 in Ridgefield. Witnesses said the victim first drove down Linden Avenue along Willis Park off Grand Avenue shortly before 5:30 p.m. Monday. He then backed up, revved the engine and hit the gas, crashing the sedan into a pile of metal debris near the CSX tracks, they told responders. A 24-year-old pedestrian from Queens was struck crossing a Ridgefield street Tuesday night, said police who were seeking witnesses. The Flushing woman was crossing Grand Avenue headed west in the crosswalk when she was struck by a 2016 BMW X5 driven by a 44-year-old borough man making a right turn from Maple Avenue shortly before 6:15 p.m., Deputy Police Chief Robert Meurer said. Ridgefield PD: Hackensack Pedestrian, 24, Struck By SUV Was Drunk
A 26-year-old pedestrian was drunk when he was struck by an SUV while crossing a Ridgefield street Monday night, authorities said. The Hackensack man was crossing Grand Avenue from west to east in the 600 block when he was struck by a 2005 Honda Pilot around 10:30 p.m., Deputy Police Chief Robert Meurer said. “There are no crosswalks in the area,” Meurer noted. The victim remained in stable condition Tuesday at Hackensack University Medical Center with head pain and scrapes, the deputy chief said. No summonses were issued to the driver, he said.

Ridgefield Spa Closed, NYC Masseuse Busted On Prostitution Charges
A masseuse was busted after Ridgefield police said she propositioned an undercover Bergen County prosecutor’s detective at a local massage parlor. Jiang Cuihong, 41, of Queens was released on a summons to appear in Municipal Court on Jan. 23 to answer charges of engaging in prostitution, Deputy Police Chief Robert Meurer said. Borough officials also closed King Spa on Grand Avenue, where Meurer said the incident occurred, after inspectors "found numerous building and fire code violations."

Ridgefield Police: 1½ Pounds Of Pot In One Stop, Pound In Another
RIDGEFIELD, N.J. -- Days after seizing a pound and a half of pot from a driver, Ridgefield police found another pound during another stop. Officer Hagop Cigercioglu stopped a black 2011 Range Rover exiting eastbound Route 46 East across Grand Avenue and up Maple Avenue for several moving violations around 8:30 last Tuesday morning, Police Chief Thomas Gallagher said. Cigercioglu arrested the driver, 41-year-old Rafael Sanchez of Ridgefield Park, on drug charges after finding the marijuana, the chief said.
