Motorcyclist, 71, Could Lose Leg From Emerson Crash: Responders
A 71-year-old motorcyclist was in serious condition following a collision Monday morning in Emerson, authorities and responders said. Responding Emerson police officers swiftly applied a tourniquet to the Lyndhurst motorcyclist's right leg just about the ankle following the crash at the corner of Forest and Revere avenues outside Beth El Cedar Park Cemetery around 9 a.m. May 8. Emerson police Friday morning released a surveillance image of burglars who made off with jewelry and cash from a borough home the night before. The homeowner called police at 8:45 p.m. after finding the front door of the home in the western end of town just off Forest Avenue kicked in, Capt. Michael McDermott said. 'Long Time Coming': Accidents Spark Reconfiguration Of Busy Pascack Valley Intersection
Changes to a busy Pascack Valley intersection are under way. A county analysis of the Forest Avenue at Soldier Hill Road -- which runs through Emerson, Oradell and Paramus -- found that safety improvements were necessary largely due to the high numer of traffic accidents at the locations. Just last month, a passenger was hospitalized after being extricated by Paramus firefighters following a crash at the busy intersection.
