An ex-con dog walker from Hudson County had more than a pound of cocaine, an assault rifle and multiple high-capacity magazines in an electronically operated secret compartment of his SUV when he was stopped near the Meadowlands, authorities said. Federal authorities have seized a carjacker who they said dragged a woman from a car at gunpoint, fired a shot in the air and pointed the weapon at the man she was with outside a South Brunswick motel. Jashawn Robinson, 21, has remained in custody since his arrest late last September near his Queens, NY, apartment, records show. A 19-year-old gunman from North Bergen has been sentenced to state prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the 2019 shooting death of a Hudson Valley man. Jayden Rodriguez was sentenced to 19 years in state prison to be followed by a period of five years post-release supervision, said Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Walsh. A 16-year-old Paterson youth was one of three city residents arrested in separate gun-related incidents over a span of roughly 30 hours, authorities said. A man who barricaded himself in a Ho-Ho-Kus home apparently with multiple registered firearms was hospitalized after an hour-long standoff, sources say. The Bergen County SWAT team responded to the Lakewood Avenue home just before 5 p.m., apparently as a precaution. It was not clear why authorities responded to the house. The man was later taken to Bergen New Bridge Medical Center for evaluation. It was not clear if he was charged.
