Three vehicles were destroyed and three others damaged in a suspicious predawn fire Sunday at a used car dealership on Route 46 in Lodi. Lodi police arrived at 4:42 a.m. July 30 to find multiple vehicles in flames and the MTF Auction building off Money Street damaged. Firefighters had the blaze doused in under an hour. There was no extension into the building, they said afterward. No injuries were reported. UPDATE: A resident conducting an illegal burn on a hill overlooking Greenwood Lake ignited a rapidly-spreading brush fire Saturday that engulfed one home, damaged two others and sent two firefighters to the hospital, authorities confirmed. Firefighters quickly doused a destructive house blaze Wednesday afternoon in Teaneck. The fire in the two-story wood-frame house on Lucy Avenue near Lindbergh Avenue broke out around 3 p.m., responders said. It quickly went to three alarms for coverage, they said. Friends said a woman and her teenage children lost most of their belonging when a July 4th weekend fire damaged their Passaic home. Firefighters quickly got to the Third Street address off Essex Street shortly before 8:30 p.m. and had the fire under control in barely a half-hour. A Hawthorne woman was asleep alone in her parents' home when she heard her dog bark and awoke to the smell of smoke. A worker from Clifton was seriously injured Monday when he fell 30 feet through the roof of a Hackensack plant that had been severely damaged by fire last fall, authorities said. A Jersey Shore restaurant has temporarily closed after being ravaged by a fire this week. Scojo's Restaurant in Surf City burst into flames around 12:50 a.m. on Jan. 21. Ridgewood Firefighters Quickly Douse House Blaze
Ridgewood firefighters quickly extinguished a house fire Wednesday afternoon. Residents got out safely and no injuries were reported at the split-level, single-family home in the 400 block of Race Track Road. The fire apparently began on the first floor and spread upstairs, bringing village firefighters, police and EMS. The home sustained moderate fire, smoke and water damage. Boyd A. Family In Union Coping With Second Devastating House Fire
Seven years after fire heavily damaged their home, a family in Union are trying to cope with yet another fire -- one that has left them homeless. The fire broke out on Revere Avenue near the Maplewood border Sunday night. Union and Maplewood firefighters brought the blaze under control in about 90 minutes but the home sustained heavy damage.
