Authorities: Shooting Victim Found During Passaic Traffic Stop Had Gun Of His Own
A Paterson man who was wounded during a shooting had a gun of his own in the trunk when Passaic police stopped his car on the way to the hospital, authorities said. A Passaic police officer stopped the speeding vehicle at Tulip and Oak streets after hearing gunshots before dawn near the corner of Main Avenue and Chestnut Street on Sept. 7. The officer found the driver, Ricardo N. Collazo, 20, of Paterson, with a gunshot wound, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Passaic Police Chief Luis A. An ex-con who was driving without a license when Paterson police stopped him for speeding wept as officers found a stolen handgun and a half-pound of pot in his car, authorities said.
