2 Hours, 6 Armed Robberies: Newark Gunman Arrested In Paterson Crime Spree, Police Say A 25-year-old Newark man was arrested after committing a string of armed robberies in Paterson on Sunday, Oct. 6, authorities said. Between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., the Paterson Police Department said they received multiple calls regarding six different robberies that occurred in the vicinity of Summer Street, 22nd Avenue, Main Street, Paterson Avenue, and McBride Avenue.  In all of the robberies the suspect, later identified as Justin Rodriguez, brandished a semi-automatic handgun and demanded valuables from the victims, authorities said. Feds Probe Explosions On Same Paterson Street Authorities hadn't said by noontime Thursday whether a pair of explosions on the same Paterson block the night before were from fireworks or improvised devices thrown from a passing car. They did say that agents from the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives responded to the pair of incidents on 21st Avenue around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Witnesses reported seeing the same white Acura flee the shootings in two drug-infested neighborhoods, as gunfire in the Silk City continues to escalate.
