Travis Gallo was home with sister Teia Gallo (both above) and a younger brother who called police just before 5:30 p.m., Molinelli said. A fourth sibling arrived at the Pershing Avenue home off Ridgewood Road around the same time as responding officers, he said.
Travis Michael Gallo had stabbed his sister “numerous times with a knife, which [he] had taken from the kitchen,” the prosecutor said.
All found Teia Gallo still alive, although ALS paramedics pronounced her dead less than a half-hour later, multiple sources said.
“The incident appears to have been motivated by an argument between brother and sister,” Molinelli said.
Identified this morning by the prosecutor, Robert Gallo — a popular gynecologist at HUMC — and his wife, Theresa, have nine biological children along with the adopted victim, accused assailant and a second sister, 16.
Family members’ Facebook profiles are filled with photos from vacations, including a trip earlier this month to Bermuda.
“My everything,” their 16-year-old sister wrote of Teia on her father’s Facebook page this morning. “She was so beautiful daddy. She walked in your foot steps. You were her inspiration without a doubt and she loved you, and mommy and all of us to pieces.”
A source with knowledge of the situation said one of the siblings suffered a black eye while breaking up an argument between Travis and one of his sisters earlier this month.
Travis Gallo was brought before a judge in the Family Part of Superior Court today. Because he is a juvenile, the proceeding was closed.
Molinelli hadn’t yet indicated whether or not he intends to seek a waiver for Gallo to adult status.
(PUBLISHER’S NOTE: An earlier report here and elsewhere of the second adopted sister also being assaulted in the Thursday night incident couldn’t be officially confirmed.)
