“I’m really floored,” Castronova told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this afternoon. “I cannot express how grateful I am to all my brothers and sisters in blue.
“It’s amazing how great everyone has been,” said the 11-year veteran, who today received flowers and a card (photo, above) from the Bergen County Police Department as she recovers from a fractured elbow and assorted bruises.
Castronova was a dispatcher for the BCPD after serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.
The reward grows
Washington Township’s police union posted a reward within hours of the overnight incident this weekend, and it was immediately matched by Local 206 of Pascack Valley.
Police, loved ones and friends are now hoping that either the driver responsible, or whoever knows who that is, will come forward.
“It’s just the right thing to do,” Washington Township Police Lt. Richard Skinner said this afternoon.
“We’re getting help from other departments and from the county prosecutor’s office investigating this, so we’re going to find the person sooner or later,” he added. “Or someone could collect a nice reward.”
Castronova was clipped around 4 a.m. Saturday on Fern Street, a residential road near Washington Avenue, after she wrote a ticket for an illegally parked vehicle.

Although she said she’s still feeling a little rattled, Castronova is “improving every day.
“I am so grateful to my department, to PBA 206, to all the surrounding agencies, the community of Washington Township and the media organizations that have shown their support,” she said.
