There are two separate application processes for the police officer positions.
One is being conducted for Police Training Commission (PTC) certified applicants and applicants currently enrolled in a PTC certified NJ Police Academy Alternate Route program.
The other is non-PTC certified applicants who’ll be required to attend the basic course for police officers if selected.
DEADLINE for applications for both processes: Sept. 21.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 21 and older;
- U.S. citizenship;
- 60 college credits or honorable discharge, with two years of service, from the US armed forces;
- NJ residency;
- Valid NJ driver’s license;
“Candidates should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to read, write, and speak the English language,” the department added. “Applicants should be of good moral character, sound body and good health, and not convicted of any criminal offense involving dishonesty or unfit to perform the duties of the office.”
