The aborted holdup occurred about 7:15 last night at the KMart for Jewelry at 700 Broadway in Westwood, police said. A store employee chased him out to the parking lot, and the robber took off after a scuffle, leaving the booty behind.

Westwood police immediately issued a bulletin, and Woodcliff Lake officers made the arrest a short time later near the suspect’s home, a Westwood Police desk sergeant said.

Woodcliff Lake Police Sgt. Michael Origoni refused to answer any questions.
