“A 4-door gray vehicle was involved in both cases: However, it is believed that there are two separate vehicles in question,” wrote Rory McCourt, the director of Elementary Education for the Westwood

“In both cases, vehicle occupants engaged students in a conversation and in one instance three students were asked if they wanted a ride, which they declined,” McCourt added. “Students in both cases were not harmed and the vehicle left after the conversations ended.”

Administrators and staff at area school districts are on alert and were prepared to be particularly diligent today.

Police asked that anyone with information about the incidents to call: (201) 664-1140.

Meantime, McCourt urged parents to “speak to your children about the importance of staying safe when walking home from school and never talking to strangers under any circumstances.”
