It was just after noon yesterday when the 51-year-old jogger from River Vale was nearly struck by a blue Subaru Outback (LICENSE PLATE: A66-ALZ) reported stolen from Ramsey Subaru at the corner of Middletown Road and East Grand Avenue.

The jogger, who had to be taken to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, told officers he exchanged words with the driver before continuing to run.

At that point, the driver “exited his vehicle and attacked the jogger, striking him several times in the face, causing serious damage,” Montvale Police Chief Jeremy Abrams said this afternoon.

The assailant then drove south on Rivervale Road, the chief said.

He is described as white, heavy-set and balding, in his late 40s to early 50s, about 5’10” to 6 feet tall, wearing black framed prescription-style glasses.

Anyone with information that can help police solve the case is asked to call Montvale HQ: (201) 391-5760.
