Pickup rolls into ditch off GSP in Washington Township

YOU SAW IT HERE FIRST: Washington Township police rescued a man who was briefly trapped in his pickup after it rolled into a ditch off the Garden State Parkway this morning.

The crash occurred on the entrance ramp to the southbound Parkway from Washington Avenue shortly before 7:30 a.m.

NJ State Police officers called for an ambulance to evaluate the driver, who declined to be taken to a hospital after members of the township Volunteer Ambulance Corps checked him out.

The vehicle was righted and removed by flatbed tow truck.

Neither traffic on the GSP itself, nor the entrance ramp, was affected.
