The Mercedes was emerging from a parking lot opposite the Shop Rite headed west on Old Hook when the Ford F-150 rammed into it as the driver moved into the right lane just after 1:30 p.m., police said.
The SUV, struck both in the front and rear by the truck, continued on across the road, ripping the grating off a catch basin and dragging it eight or so feet before coming to a stop.
Airbags deployed on both vehicles, police said.
The Mercedes driver refused medical treatment, they said.
Three occupants of the pickup were hospitalized.
The road was closed about an hour.
