Pedestrian, 77, Struck In Westwood Dies

WESTWOOD, N.J. -- (UPDATE) A 77-year-old Westwood woman struck Tuesday by a sedan driven by an 86-year-old River Vale woman died of her injuries, authorities said Wednesday.

The victim, who lives in a nearby senior citizens building, was struck by the green Chrysler Concorde just after 10 a.m. at Broadway and Irvington Street, Lt. Matthew McClutchy told Daily Voice.

She was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center's Intensive Care Unit with head and internal injuries, said McClutchy, the officer in charge of the department.

Police initially issued the motorist a careless driving summons.

An investigation was continuing, McClutchy said.
