The owner told police the ski-masked burglar bolted out the back door around 8:10 p.m., Montvale Police Chief Jeremy Abrams told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this afternoon.

“The phone line had been cut, disabling the alarm system,” Abrams said, adding that the bandit had forced his way in through the back door.

The Bergen County Sheriff’s Office’s K-9 unit tracked a scent to the street, where the trail ended, Abrams said.

The sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Identification collected evidence at the shop, the chief said.
