Susan Losacco left her home around 5 p.m. Monday without her cellphone or identification, authorities said. She'd been known to walk long distances -- once getting as far as Upper Saddle River, they said.
Losacco's husband, Vincent, agreed this past summer to permanently stop selling animals in New Jersey in order to settle state charges that his Just Pups company misled customers about the health of the puppies sold, failed to reimburse consumers for animals that got sick or died and committed dozens of other acts of consumer fraud.
He closed his Just Pups stores in Emerson, Paramus, Valhalla, N.Y. and elsewhere amid mounting legal troubles that began when three dead dogs were recovered from a freezer at Losacco's East Brunswick location in early 2016 .
Several weeks later, Paramus police found 67 puppies packed into small metal crates in a van parked behind what was then his Route 17 store.
