JC councilman in DWI crash after St. Pat’s party

BEYOND BERGEN: Democrat Jersey City Councilman Khemraj “Chico” Ramchal was arrested on drunk driving charges after an overnight crash at West Side and Communipaw avenues following a St. Patrick’s Day party at Casino in the Park, authorities said.

Ramchal, 39, was headed south on West Side with his emergency lights on when his 2013 Ford Explorer T-boned a taxicab that was propelled into another vehicle, injuring a passenger, according to The Jersey Journal, citing a police report.

His blood-alcohol level was .15, nearly twice the legal limit, the story says.

Ramchal, an ally of Mayor Steve Fulop, allegedly said the other driver ran a red light, but the report says witnesses told police that Ramchal was the one who blew a light. READ MORE….
