Sgt. John Carty took 62-year-old Kenneth Scully into custody on DWI charges after spotting his 2003 Ford F-150 pickup truck with front-end damage on Kinderkamack Road yesterday afternoon, Paramus Deputyh Police Chief Robert Guidetti told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

A short time earlier, the pickup crashed into the rear of a 1993 Dodge Ram that was stopped at a light on Forest Avenue at Ridgewood Avenue, nearly five miles away, Guidetti said.

The occupants got a license plate number, which Paramus police broadcast over the SPEN radio network, the deputy chief said.

Both the 31-year-old driver from Elmwood Park and 35-year-old Englewood passenger were taken to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood after complaining of neck and chest pain, he said.

Scully is charged with careless driving and leaving the scene of an accident in Paramus and with DWI in Hillsdale.
