Hillsdale police make quick arrest in graffiti taggings

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A graffiti tagger accused of vandalizing several buildings and cars in town was grabbed by Hillsdale police after they identified his signature.

Five spray-painted tags that caused several thousand dollars in damage were reported early Saturday to police.

Police Officer Anthony Lacher quickly identified the signature of 25-year-old Bernabe Trujilio of Vincent Street, Officer William Diedtrich said this morning.

Later that afternoon, Sgt. Sean Smith and Officer Liz Zimmerman were on patrol when they spotted Trujilio walking along Washington Avenue.

They snatched him up, took him to headquaraters, charged him with criminal mischief, then turned Trujilio over to their colleagues in Woodcliff Lake, who were looking for him in connection with an incident in their town.
