“There have been no casualties,” said Park Ridge Police Chief Joseph Madden. “Just structural damage.”

The fire at 70 Park Avenue, at the corner of South Maple, began raging around 7:30 p.m. and continued burning pat 11 p.m. It consumed the upscale lighting and fixtures showroom and most of its upstairs warehouse, blowing a hole through the roof, a police spokesman said.

“Nobody got hurt, but they’re still trying to put it out,” the officer told CLIFFVIEWPILOT.COM shortly before 11 p.m.

A cause hasn’t yet been determined for the blaze at the landmark store, which has been a fixture in downtown Park Ridge since the late 1950s.

“Three generations have nurtured this company and it now stands as a leader with a reputation for impeccable craftsmanship, innovative design and honest value,” Krell boasts on its website.
