The 30-year-old woman was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center after being struck at the intersection of Center and Westwood avenues by a Ford pickup driven by a 76-year-old borough man, Lt. Matthew McClutchy said.

She was walking westbound on the south side of Westwood Avenue into the crosswalk when she was struck, he said.

The Bergen County Prosecutor's Fatal Accident Investigation Unit was investigating along with borough police.

The county sheriff's Bureau of Criminal Identification collected evidence -- including the vehicle, which was towed from the scene.
