Elmwood Park Motorcyclist Airlifted After Montvale Crash Dies

MONTVALE, N.J. -- A motorcyclist from Elmwood Park who was airlifted to Hackensack University Medical Center Friday afternoon after crashing near an S bend in Montvale that's popular with riders was pronounced dead a short time later, authorities said Monday.

The 43-year-old rider was thrown from his Kawasaki sports bike after it struck a curb and utility pole on Philips Parkway around 12:15 p.m., Police Chief Jeremy Abrams said.

AirMed One flew him from the Chestnut Ridge Sports Complex to HUMC, where he died a little over an hour later.

The Tri-Boro Volunteer Ambulance Corps and paramedics from The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood responded along with borough police and firefighters, he said.

An investigation was continuing.
