Fuel tanks on the tandem axle truck ruptured, threatening a nearby storm drain, when it collided with a sedan between 7-7:30 a.m.

Crews from the Bergen County Hazardous Materials Unit responded, along with firefighters from Washington Township and Hillsdale.

The injured motorist was taken to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood by members of the Westwood Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

New Jersey State Police and Washington Township police also responded.

The sedan was removed via a flatbed tow truck; the dump truck was hauled away by a heavy duty wrecker.

Although no lanes of the roadway were closed, extensive northbound traffic delays on the GSP resulted from the accident. There was also quite a bit of rubbernecking southbound.
