The owner was driving his 1988 Lincoln Mark VII north, crossing Fourth Avenue onto the Forest Avenue extension, when the crash occurred around 12:30, the chief said.

“He apparently accelerated too hard, veered to one side and hit the curb,” Westwood Police Chief Frank Regino told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

The car rolled, landing on its roof.

Both the car (similar to the one pictured above) and curb sustained some damage, the chief said, but the driver was fine.

After kicking his way out, the man refused medical attention, Regino said.

“It was a customized car,” the chief explained. “It turns out he installed some type of rollbar, which protected him.”
