The annual award goes to someone not in the organization who is a role model for women in business and “has a standing record of assisting women in general.”
NJAWBO, the state’s largest female business owners’ organization, is in its 25th year of supporting and encouraging business ownership by women by giving them the necessary tools to develop and nurture their enterprises. It has nearly 1,000 members organized in eleven chapters.
Founded by Albanese, of Cresskill, in 2007, Giants of Generosity is a registered 501(C)3 organization that aims to pay forward by easing the burdens that many in crisis carry.
In that time, GoG has come to the rescue of more than three dozen local people and families who had nowhere else to turn. It has given recipients financial help and moral support – but, most importantly, hope for the future.
Its activities have included a special Christmas event, during which needy youngsters open gifts donated by those who get to experience “the joy of giving on a very intimate and personal level.”
More recently, the organization has helped defray expenses for the family of a young Westwood girl with brain cancer who has endured several costly surgeries and treatments.
There are many other Giants of Generosity success stories, some of them intensely personal and deeply touching.
That’s the beauty of paying it forward, Albanese says. A donation of any kind – be it cash, materials or your own labor – “can change an impossible situation into a promising life for someone in need,” she said.
