Gargiulo, while principal owner of LG II general contractors, paid $18,000 in kickbacks to Donald Olesky, then the director of facilities maintenance at Maher Terminal, in exchange for $300,000 worth of taxpayer-funded work.
U.S. District Judge Freda L. Wolfson also sentenced Gargiulo to one year of supervised release, fined him $6,000 and ordered him to forfeit roughly $36,100.
Olesky, like Gargiulo, pleaded guilty — in his case, to taking the bribe.
U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman credited special agents of the FBI’s Trenton Field Office for the investigation that led to today’s plea, negotiated by Assistant U.S. Attorney Harvey Bartle of Fishman’s office in Trenton.
