Dina Y. Monzon-Garcia, 31, of Orangeburg, “entered the [Broadway] gas station for fuel but failed to slow and steer her vehicle properly” just before 3:30 Saturday afternoon, Hillsdale Police Chief Chip Stalter.

The Nissan Pathfinder struck the attendant’s booth and then the gas pump, dislodging it from its base and sending it onto a car being fueled on the other side.

The attendant activated the emergency shutoff switch, preventing gasoline from leaking from the damaged pump, Stalter said.

Garcia not only didn’t have a license, the chief said: She also couldn’t produce a valid insurance policy.

Police towed her vehicle and gave her summoses for careless, unlicensed and uninsured driving.

She was released pending an appearance in Hillsdale Municipal Court.

Hillsdale Code Official Keith Durie ordered the station closed, pending emergency repairs.
