“The Highlander was launched from its starting position on Broadway, off the roadway, and propelled down onto West Street where it finally came to rest on top of a small retaining wall,” Police Chief Chip Stalter said.
Both the driver and the man standing outside his vehicle were hospitalized in the Sunday afternoon crash. Neither had life-threatening injuries but were cut, scraped and bruised, the chief said.
“The focus of this investigation remains on any driver
inattention that could have contributed to the collision,” Chief Stalter said.
He also reminded motorists that “due caution is paramount, especially in busy areas and shopping districts.”
