The fire broke out this morning around 10:30. Someone at the township library called police, and Lt. Gregg Hackbarth and Cpl. Arsenio Pecora rushed to the scene, along with the township Fire Department, Police Chief Randy Ciocco told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

They found a fire on the roof of the Wing Lee restaurant, the chief said.

As patrol officers evacuated the shopping center, headquarters got a call of a fight in back.

Hillsdale Officer Sean Smith, who was assisting at the fire scene, grabbed those involved. Charges are being drawn up.

Ciocco praised the quick response of those involved.

“Through fluid communication, cooperation, and common goals shared between the Township of Washington Police and Fire Department, emergencies such as this one are quickly tackled through a professional and diligent response,” the chief said.

That includes the Paramus Fire Department, Hillsdale Fire Department, River Vale Ambulance Corp, Woodcliff Lake Fire Department, Westwood Police Department and Hillsdale Police Department, he said.
