Two Port Authority officers flagged down by witnesses grabbed the alleged assailant at 41st and Eighth, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo said this morning.

The victim told them that 47-year-old Candido Jerez grabbed a bottle, broke it on the ground and attacked him with it when he didn’t give him a cigarette.

He was cut on the head, chest and hand, Pentangelo said.

Jerez was charged with assault and illegal weapons possession, he said, noting that the incident didn’t occur on authority property.
