"As part of our ongoing efforts to protect and enrich the lives of disadvantaged children," the foundation is raising funds to send children from the YCS Holley Center to the show, said Rosemarie D'Alessandro of Hillsdale.
D'Alesssando made helping other parents and disadvantaged children her life’s mission after her 7-year-old daughter, Joan, was killed by a neighbor while selling cookies door-to-door in April 1973. She established Joan's Joy to help youngsters and raise awareness of child safety issues.
Now a decade old, the Holley Center operated by Youth Consultation Services provides “long-term intensive residence” for up to 45 children ages 6 to 13, in addition to a variety of other services.
