Authorities turned to the public for help investigating a suspicious brush fire that broke out in Ridgewood over the weekend. Police in Newark are seeking the public's help in locating an 11-year-old girl. Xiomara Elizabeth Giron Soriano was last seen on the 100 block of Van Buren Street on Dec. 21, Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara said. Somers Hickman, 67, was found dead in his Chapman Avenue home after police were summoned by neighbors for a welfare check Monday around 10 p.m., Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Wayne police sought the public's help identifying a business burglar who was recorded on surveillance video. "We have been unable to identify the suspect and are seeking the public’s assistance in doing so," Police Capt. Daniel Daly said. Note the tattoo on the suspect’s left upper arm, authorities said. The Essex County Prosecutor's Office is asking the public's help identifying and locating a male sought in connection with a slaying in Newark March 17. Deante Barr, 18, was shot and killed around 10 p.m. in the 900 block of South Orange Avenue. Authorities are asking for the public's help in seeking the man who took a baby Jesus statue from a nativity scene outside of a Glen Rock home. Surveillance video showed a white male who appeared to be in his early 20s taking the statue from the front lawn of a South Highwood Avenue home just before 7 a.m. Wednesday, borough police said.
