Two boys on an adventure in an abandoned Hudson River-area railroad tunnel during the weekend rainstorm got more than they bargained for. Why the youngsters, both around 14, decided to go exploring the local curiosity known to some as Devil's Hole during a relentless downpour was anyone's guess. Police: Oakland Man Injured, Charged Playing Chicken With Freight Train
A 35-year-old Oakland man injured himself jumping out of the way of a freight train – and then was arrested, authorities said. The Oakland First Aid Squad treated the man for his injuries after he was nearly struck while with his dog near the Ramapo River shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Lt. Christian Eldridge said. The man refused hospitalization, the lieutenant said. Sgt. : Two Hospitalized, RR Sign Smashed In Midland Park Crash
Two victims were hospitalized and a railroad crossing sign was flattened in a Thursday afternoon crash in Midland Park. Both were taken by ambulances to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood with injuries that responders said weren’t life-threatening after the cross at Goffle Road and Lake Avenue. Midland Park, Wyckoff and Ridgewood police responded, along with Midland Park firefighters and EMS and Wyckoff EMS. A flatbed tow truck removed both wrecks from the scene.
