Murphy Orders Flag With Confederate Symbol Removed From Jersey City Park Acting at the request of a Jersey City lawmaker, Gov. Phil Murphy Friday ordered that the Mississippi state flag be removed from Liberty State Park because it incorporates the Confederate "Stars and Bars" emblem.  In an announcement on social media, Murphy, a Democrat, said "The Confederate symbol does not reflect New Jersey’s values of inclusivity and equality."  He went on to thank state Sen. Sandra B. Cunningham (D-31) for her "leadership in bringing this forward."  The Mississippi flag will be replaced by the United States flag, Murphy also said.  The flags of all …

Oprah's Mom Died On Thanksgiving, Family Reveals Oprah Winfrey’s mother, Vernita Lee, died on Thanksgiving Day, her family confirmed on Monday. She was 83. Lee was laid to rest in a private ceremony. "After the passing of her mother, we’re sending well wishes to @Oprah and her family," OprahMagazine posted on Instagram.
