Authorities are investigating after Anthony Ambrose, the former chief of detectives for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office, accidentally shot himself on Friday, March 22. The incident occurred at a private office complex in Cedar Grove, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens, II said. He was treated and released at a nearby hospital for a non-life-threatening wound, Stephens said. Ambrose joined the Newark Police Department in 1986 and became chief in 1999. The family of an 18-month-old boy from North Jersey has filed a lawsuit saying he suffered serious injuries when he was mauled by a pitbull at a town-wide garage sale last year. The estate of a 24-year-old man who was killed in a crash on the Garden State Parkway has reportedly settled a lawsuit against his former employer for $2.15 million. Brandon Lawson, of Manchester Township, was driving a dump truck owned by Farmingdale-based Galderese Trucking when its brakes failed on the southbound Parkway in Egg Harbor Township in the middle of the afternoon on Jan. 6, 2021, authorities said. A man is suing the American Dream mall in East Rutherford claiming he broke his leg while riding a waterslide at the DreamWorks Water Park in July 2021. Xavier Velez filed a lawsuit in Superior Court of New Jersey in Bergen County on Wednesday, June 21. The number of people sickened by an E. coli outbreak linked to Wendy's sandwiches continues to climb, the New York Post reports.
