UPDATE: The getaway driver in an armed robbery turned cold-blooded killing in Fairview was convicted this week of felony murder, among other counts, following a trial in Hackensack. David Martinez of North Bergen will get a minimum 30-year state prison sentence, at the very least, for the June 2019 shooting death of David Duque-Soto at his Fourth Street apartment. Authorities: Ex-Con Enlisted Baltimore Shooters Who Killed Newark Man At Englewood Party Ambush
UPDATE: A local ex-con recruited two unemployed Baltimore men who shot and killed a Newark man in an ambush at an Englewood house party last month, authorities said. Daily Voice broke the story Saturday that members of a Bergen County Regional SWAT team captured Jamal "Mally" Robinson, 44, in a rental car on Reade Street in Englewood on Friday in connection with the fatal June 20 shooting at the corner of 2nd and 4th streets. Robber Who Killed Vietnam Vet In Elizabeth Sentenced To 30 Years
An Elizabeth man who shot and killed his neighbor during the course of a robbery on Halloween in 2016 must serve at least 30 years in prison before becoming eligible for parole, a judge in Union County Superior Court ruled Friday. Jimmy Kearney, 20, assaulted 61-year-old Robert Rouse around 6 a.m. as Rouse, who served in the Marines in Vietnam, was headed to work from his home on Walnut Street.
