Pair Busted In Kay Jewelers, Nordstrom Burglary Spree Stretching From Paramus To Albany
Two Brooklyn men were captured and charged with four Kay Jewelers burglaries and one at Nordstrom in Paramus that netted more than $250,000 in valuables, ending a nine-month spree that authorities said stretched from Central Jersey to Albany. Paramus and NYPD detectives teamed up to nab Gerald Williams, 45, and Tony Newton, 56, ending a spree that they said began in January. The pair cut through the front security gate of the Kay Jewelers at the Garden State Plaza after closing time on Jan. 13 and ransacked the display cases, Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg said. Bergen County's First Lands End To Open In Paramus
Lands End will open its first Bergen County location at Bergen Town Center. There is no timetable of when the American clothing company will open at the Paramus mall. Its only other North Jersey location is in Jersey City. Meanwhile, construction continues making way for other new additions including a Burlington discount department store, Express clothing store and a two-level parking structure. Halloween Store Opening At Former Garden State Plaza Best Buy (And These Other Locations)
A Spirit Halloween store will be opening at the former Best Buy at the Garden State Plaza. The store has not yet announced an opening date and only says "coming soon" on the website. It is not clear how long the store will remain at this location or what the mall's plans are for further redevelopment of the Best Buy. Bergen Town Center Construction Paves Way For New Stores, Restaurants
The Bergen Town Center is about to get even bigger. The 61-year-old Paramus mall will soon boast several new retailers, restaurants and even more parking. A new report in NorthJersey.com said shoppers can expect a Burlington discount department store, Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, Express clothing store and a two-level parking structure. The department store will be located in the 50,000-square-foot space on the mall's third level, above Marshall's and Saks Fifth Avenue. CAVA plans on opening its fourth New Jersey location in Wayne, BoozyBurbs reports. The fast-casual Mediterranean restaurant opened last year at Bergen Town Center in Paramus. Sixty smaller stores are proposed to replace the JCPenney at Westfield's Garden State Plaza in Paramus, sources said Monday. JCPenney announced last year it would be closing up to 140 stores along with two distribution centers while instituting an early retirement program in an effort to increase profits in the era of online shopping. Garden State Plaza Best Buy Announces Moving Date
The Garden State Plaza will only be home to Best Buy for two more weeks. Then, it's off to Bergen Town Center. Best Buy will be switching locations on Saturday, April 14, into a brand new facility across from Bergen Town Center, according to a sign posted inside the store. Store officials said shopping will be easier at the new store because the sales floor will be on the same level. The Garden State Plaza has not yet announced what will be replacing Best Buy.
