Second Graders At Chapel School Build Candy Houses
BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- Gum drops, jelly beans, licorice sticks, and candy canes were some of the many sweet treats used to decorate candy houses at The Chapel School in Bronxville. The second graders at the school were busy architects and landscapers, using their creativity to craft each candy house. The annual tradition gives students a chance to become little artists, meticulously decorating every inch of their candy house. Kathryn Weidmann, 91, Of Mount Vernon, 'Voice Of Concordia College'
MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- Kathryn (Haffner) Weidmann of Mount Vernon died Sunday, Dec. 18. She was 91. She worked for Concordia College for 60 years in a variety of capacities. She was known as the “voice of Concordia.” When calls came in she would joyfully, with a lilt in her voice, answer the phone, “Concordia College, how may I help you?” A funeral service will be held at Village Lutheran Church, 172 White Plains Road, Bronxville, on Dec. 28 at 3 p.m. Interment at Hillside Cemetery, 742 Rutherford Ave., Lyndhurst, N.J.

NYACK, N.Y. -- A $30 million development will bring luxury apartments to a former industrial site in Nyack, according to lohud.com.Pavion apartments will offer 135 studio, one- and two-bedroom rentals, with 14 set aside for affordable housing, according to lohud.com. Fox Lane Alum From Bedford Seeks Help With Cancer Expenses
A 30-year-old Bedford native is battling cancer and reaching out to the community for help through a GoFundMe page launched on Dec. 18. Elizabeth Long Lang, a 2004 graduate of Fox Lane High School in Bedford, was diagnosed with melanoma stage 2b in December 2015. Despite surgery, the cancer spread to her liver, and even with insurance, expenses are mounting.
