'Vibrant, Funny' Gardener's Home Severely Damaged In Central Jersey Fire: Fundraiser
A Central Jersey gardening club is rallying to support a woman whose home was severely damaged in a fire, according to a fundraising campaign. Keyport firefighters responded to a basement fire in a home on Cedar Street at around 2:27 p.m. on Wednesday, Apr. 3, according to a Facebook post by Lincoln Hose 2273. When firefighters arrived, they saw smoke coming from the basement windows on all four sides of the house. More than 3,000 customers were without power in Monmouth County after a substation caught fire, officials said. A substation fire at the entrance to Sandy Hook caused the outage on Monday, Apr. 8, Atlantic Highlands police said in a Facebook post. NASA will be launching three sounding rockets during the total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024, to study how Earth’s upper atmosphere is affected when sunlight momentarily dims over a portion of the planet.
