Newark Man Dies In Shooting A 31-year-old man was shot and killed Wednesday in Newark. Dawoo A. Goff was found with a gunshot wound on the 200 block of South 6th Street, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara said. He was transported to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3:45 p.m. The investigation is active and ongoing. No arrests have been made. Police: Newark Man Asked To Hold Yorkie -- Then Stole Him A Newark man who asked to hold a woman's dog then stole him has been arrested, authorities said July 12. A woman was walking with her Yorkie near South Orange Avenue and South 6th Street on June 15 when a man in a gray truck approached her, according to Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara. The driver, Kenol Monreau, 51, asked to hold the dog before driving away with the pooch, O'Hara said. Monreau was charged with theft on a warrant and subsequently arrested, authorities said.
