WANAQUE, N.J. -- A trash hauler lost consciousness Friday morning when he leaned from the back of the truck and was knocked to the ground by a utility pole, witnesses told Wanaque police.

The 40-year-old worker was flown by AirMed One to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, Capt. Kenneth Fackina said.

Chilton Hospital BLS and ALS responded, along with Riverdale police and firefighters, Fackina said.

His condition wasn't known Friday afternoon, the captain said.

Detectives from Wanaque and the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office were investigating, he said.
