The 17-year-old Ramsey High School senior was seriously injured when a vehicle occupied by her and three fellow Ramsey teens slammed into a telephone pole in Mahwah late Friday, Nov. 17. The brakes had apparently locked, sending the vehicle skidding out of control, responders at the scene told Daily Voice. Several Bergen County schools are reporting COVID-19 cases. Individuals tested positive at Northern Valley Demarest, Ridgewood and Ramsey high schools this week. NVD switched to remote learning Nov. 10 and will resume in-person learning Nov. 18, Superintendent James Santana said in a tweet. NV Old Tappan was also closed for contact tracing, he said. An individual at a Bergen County high school tested positive for COVID-19, making this at least the fifth case in the district in the last five weeks. The individuals at Ramsey High School tested positive on Monday, NorthJersey.com reports citing Superintendent Matthew Murphy. The individual was not in contact with any other students, staff or faculty members, and was not in the school since last Thursday, Murphy said. The case does not impact the high school's schedule. Four new COVID-19 cases were reported this week in a single Bergen County school district. A letter sent to Ramsey parents Monday said schools will remain open despite three cases at Hubbard Elementary School and one was from Eric Smith Middle School, NorthJersey.com reports. Ramsey High School's football program has halted workouts just three days after they began over COVID-19 concerns. Some of the players may have been exposed to a non-football Ramsey High School individual, superintendent Dr. Matthew Murphy told NorthJersey.com. Ho-Ho-Kus Dad 1 Of 5 Killed In Small Plane Crash Off Honduras Coast
A dad from Ho-Ho-Kus was one of five people killed in a plane crash off the coast of Roatan island in Honduras. Bradley W. Post and three other Americans, along with the Canadian pilot, were in the Piper Cherokee Six that plummeted into the Atlantic shortly after takeoff while en route to the port of Trujillo on May 18. Police divers and firemen recovered four bodies within minutes of the crash. The fifth person was taken to the hospital but died shortly after, officials said. Ramsey High School sophomore Amber Clark got exactly what she wanted for her birthday. She got to see be with her sister, Sophie-Leigh Baxter Clark, a U.S. Army soldier who took a six-day leave from service as a soldier in South Korea. New Jersey released its grades for public schools, ranking each one on a scale of 0 to 100. Nineteen schools in Bergen, Morris and Passaic counties scored among the top 50 in the state. The Ramsey and Stonehill College communities were devastated by the loss of 20-year-old Marc Tarabocchia, who died suddenly while away at school Tuesday morning. Tarabocchia graduated from Ramsey High School, where he held a record on the track team. He was also a member of the wrestling and football teams.
