The founder of a Jersey Shore charter school and its business administrator illegally steered a $115,000 contract to the founder’s side business, state authorities charged.
Peter Caporilli, 59, of Absecon, and Michael Falkowski, 48, of Point Pleasant, split a single project to build an outdoor learning center at Principle Academy in Egg Harbor Township into two smaller contracts for $40,000 and $75,000, respectively, a grand jury found.

Shock, Sadness Spread After Woman Slain In Atlantic County
A 30-year-old woman was fatally shot overnight in Atlantic County, authorities said.
Jazmen Martin-Richardson, 30, was found suffering from a gunshot wound on the 1000 block of Iowa Avenue, Pleasantville on Monday, May 23, according to Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Cary Shill.
Medical personnel arrived but were unable to revive Martin-Richardson. Martin-Richardson was pronounced deceased at the scene, the prosecutor said.

The body of Irving Mayren-Guzman, 19, of Egg Harbor Township, was found in a marsh near the Centerfolds Night Club in Pleasantville on Tuesday morning.

Local and federal authorities seized more than 30 pounds of fentanyl, heroin and cocaine – the area’s largest narcotics haul in history -- while raiding a basement drug mill just outside Atlantic City, authorities said.
