A federal judge in Newark ordered Mauricio Gutierrez, 50, of Somerset held following an initial court appearance on charges of distributing drugs that killed users. A Somerset County man was seized by federal agents who charged him with selling a mix of fentanyl and heroin that killed a user in Plainfield. Officers responding to the victim’s home found two wax folds containing both drugs and bearing a unique stamp, which they linked to Thomas Kane Miller, 38, of Somerset, U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger said. The New Jersey Senate on Thursday approved a proposed law that would require doctors to prescribe Narcan when writing opioid pain management prescriptions for high-risk patients. : New Milford Police Rescue OD Victim, 51, In Locked SUV
A group of New Milford police officers rescued a 51-year-old borough woman who’d overdosed in her locked SUV. An officer broke the window so he and his colleagues could get to the victim in a rear River Road parking lot late Friday afternoon, Detective Lt. Kevin Van Saders said. They immediately administered CPR and then Narcan, which brought her around, he said.
