Man's Body Heavily Damaged During Transport, Lawsuit Against Bergen County Funeral Company Says
A New Jersey family has filed a lawsuit against a funeral home alleging that their loved one's body had been damaged so badly while in their care that they were unable to hold an open casket service. The lawsuit (attached) was filed by the Fornaro family in Bergen County Superior Court on Thursday, Sept. 5. The suit names the Cochran Funeral Home in Hackettstown along with three of its employees; Bergen Funeral Service along with three of its employees; 10 John Does; and 10 ABC entities. The New Jersey State Attorney General's Office released surveillance camera footage and police radio transmissions after a state trooper struck and killed a Morris County cyclist in February. A FedEx driver was drunk when he crashed into a utility pole in Hackettstown on Tuesday, July 16, authorities said. At 2:59 p.m., officers were at 100 Main St. when they saw a FedEx delivery truck crashed into a utility pole, Hackettstown police said. 23 Small Aftershocks Reported By USGS In 23 Hours After New Jersey Earthquake
The USGS is reporting 23 aftershocks in the 23 hours since the New Jersey earthquake that rattled the Northeast. The initial earthquake had a magnitude of 4.8 and was reported in Whitehouse Station at 10:23 a.m. Friday, April 5. Tremors were felt by more than four million people from Maryland to New Hampshire. The first aftershock was reported just under an hour later at 11:20 a.m. 6 km NNE of Whitehouse Station with a magnitude of 2.0. Two people were hospitalized following a head-on crash in Morris County, authorities said. The Long Valley First Aid Squad responded to the crash with EMS and Rescue 1 and 2 in Long Valley during the afternoon on Saturday, Sept. 10. The Long Valley Fire Company No. 1 tended to a fluid spill while EMS crew members treated two patients at the scene and transported them to nearby hospitals, the squad said. Emergency crews were quick to douse a lawnmower fire that spread through a quarter-acre of woods in Hunterdon County, authorities said. The Fairmount Fire Company No. 1 in Long Valley responded to the blaze in the woods near Old Turnpike and Wildwood Roads in Tewksbury Township on Friday, April 15, the department said. Crews found the lawnmower fully engulfed in flames that had spread to a compost pile and a quarter-acre of woods nearby.
