The Civil War was the first time in American history when a large number of men served in the military. While being in the army presented challenges for all soldiers and their families, the experiences of married couples were unique both for the solider and his spouse left at home.

Zinn is an independent historian with special interest in the history of baseball as well as the Civil War. He is the chairman of the board of the New Jersey Historical Society and was the chair of New Jersey's Committee on the Sesquicentennial of the Civil War.

The discussion will take place at the Harrington Park Library at 7:30 p.m.

The library is located at 10 Herring St.
